My name is Ján, I’m about to turn 39, I’m happily married, and we have an 8-year-old daughter, Kika. I try to do things at 100%—literally. When I work, I work; when I rest, I rest.
The person behind my transformation is actually my wife, who started exercising in November 2017—the little troublemaker! :) She has been visiting NEONKA since April 2018 and has managed to lose about 22 kg so far. But back to me.
It all started when I realized I had trouble even tying my shoelaces. On top of that, health issues started piling up: back pain, shortness of breath, and obesity (118 kg at a height of 183 cm). I had been thinking for a while that I needed to do something with myself, but I didn't know where to start. The traditional gym bored me, but I desperately needed movement. In January 2018, the opportunity to get a Multisport card came up at work. I looked for ways to use it and found NEONKA. My first visit was just to get information—the girls at the reception and the instructors explained everything, gave me advice, and guided me. And then it began. On February 1st, 2018, I started with BODYPUMP 3–4 times a week. Gradually, I began trying other programs like BODYCOMBAT, CORE (CXWORX), and GRIT (HIIT). Being active wasn't completely new to me, as I spent 20 years as a goalkeeper in local mini-leagues and indoor football, but the movement was becoming less and less frequent. That’s probably why cardio suits me best. My absolute favorite is BODYCOMBAT.
My initial goal was to reach 110 kg, then 100 kg, then 95... After slightly adjusting my diet and sticking to the workouts at NEONKA with their fantastic instructors, I reached my current weight of 83–85 kg in about six months. Besides the weight loss, exercise brought other benefits. Before I started, I used to get sick 4–5 times a year. Since I’ve been attending NEONKA, I’ve been sick exactly once.
Currently, if my schedule allows, I visit NEONKA 2–3 times a week. Whatever I miss during the week due to work, I make up for on the weekends. I’ve realized that if I skip 1 or 2 weeks for any reason, I actually miss it. The worst was when I had to take a 1.5-month break due to gallbladder surgery—that was pure desperation.
As for my diet, yes, I have some restrictions. First and foremost, I cut back on white bread, potatoes, and fatty or fried foods. I’m not saying I never have them, but I do so in moderation. Since I started exercising, I have also completely cut out alcohol. Sweets are a separate chapter. Before I started working out, I’d have something sweet once in a while. And now? It’s like my body is constantly craving sugar! :D
And why NEONKA? As I mentioned, I went with my first impression. That first visit did the trick. It’s not just about the workout; it’s about the instructors' approach, the reception, and the communication. Among other things, I was drawn in by events like SUPER SATURDAY, activities for kids, and many others. Another thing I want to highlight is the wide range of classes at various times and across multiple locations. If someone wants to work out, they truly have plenty of options to choose from.
And what is the greatest reward and the best feeling after a workout for me? THE SHOWER! It’s an amazing feeling when you feel everything bad and negative just washing away!
